Will the sequel to the biggest movie of 2018 be the biggest movie in sequel history? The sky is the limit for the fourth Avengers movie when the epic from Disney’s Marvel Studios hits theaters on April 26 2019. And, with the film’s just-arrived trailer, those forbidding skies look grim as grief, dust and dread hang in the air.
Watch the trailer above, and see the film’s newly released poster below. The new title of the film: Avengers: Endgame.
When last we left our Marvel superheroes their world had half-ended not with a bang but with a whimper. That was the grim situation at the climax of The Avengers: Infinity War, the biggest hit of 2018, thanks to the snap decision by Thanos (Josh Brolin) to erase half of the souls in existence, among them Spider-Man (Tom Holland) and many of his amazing friends.
The new film was directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, the sibling tandem that began their Marvel Studios run with Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014, added Captain America: Civil War in 2016 and then escalated with Infinity War this past April.
The online release of the highly anticipated Avengers trailer comes four days after the high-profile premiere of an epic new Captain Marvel trailer during halftime of ESPN’s Monday Night Football. Marvel has three releases next year: Captain Marvel on March 8, the Avengers sequel on April 26 and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5.
And here is the just-released poster:

In the U.S. and Canada, Netflix will debut Marvel’s “Avengers: Infinity War” on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. The streamer announced the premiere date for the superhero blockbuster in a tweet Monday.
But Netflix’s deal with Disney will end in 2020, and Netflix will not have rights to any titles starting with 2019 new releases. Netflix originally inked the output deal with for U.S. pay-TV-window rights to Disney, Marvel, Lucasfilm and Pixar films in 2013.
Disney ended the Netflix pact last year to roll its own streaming service, dubbed Disney+, which is set to launch in late 2019. Disney chairman-CEO Bob Iger revealed the moniker earlier this month as part of the Mouse House’s quarterly earnings report. Disney also launched a placeholder website, preview.disneyplus.com, for prospective subscribers to sign up for info.
“Avengers: Infinity War,” released in April 2018, grossed a little over $2 billion at the box office, including $679 million domestically, per Box Office Mojo. That puts it as the fourth-biggest movie release ever, behind “Avatar,” “Titanic” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”

The movie, which brings together several parts of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, features an ensemble cast that includes Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Don Cheadle, Tom Holland, Chadwick Boseman, Paul Bettany, Elizabeth Olsen, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Danai Gurira, Letitia Wright, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Josh Brolin, and Chris Pratt. “Avengers: Infinity War” was directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
After Netflix loses rights to Disney releases and back catalog, the plan is to bring the films to Disney+, which will be available globally. Disney also developing new original programming for the over-the-top service, including a series based on Loki starring Tom Hiddleston and a second “Star Wars” live-action series starring Diego Luna as Rebel spy Cassian Andor.

Netflix still has streaming rights to Avengers: Infinity War and the service has announced the release date for the film: December 25. Netflix announced the news via NX, its science fiction-related Twitter account, Monday afternoon. The film is currently available on DVD, Blu-ray and Digital HD, but will be free to Netflix subscribers in a month.
Netflix’s deal with Disney ends in 2020. Any Marvel movie released in 2019 will not stream on Netflix, which means don’t bank on Captain Marvel 's arrival. It’s still unclear when Disney’s standalone streaming service, newly dubbed Disney+, will launch, though the company estimates “late 2019.” It’s unknown when fans can expect new titles (such as the aforementioned Captain Marvel or Avengers 4) to arrive on the new service. Disney+ will be available globally.
Avengers: Infinity War arrived in theaters in April 2018 and ended its run with over $2 billion at the box office. The film brought together pretty much every hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to attempt to defeat Thanos, but the efforts ended in disaster that will spill over into the sequel, Avengers 4, set to arrive in theaters May 3, 2018.
Captain America's two best friends, Bucky and Falcon, will get their own series on the Disney Streaming Service. Marvel
As for other Marvel movies to stream for free, Iron Man 2 arrives on Amazon Prime on Dec. 25. Spider-Man 3, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Doctor Strange, Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther are all currently streaming on Netflix. After Stan Lee’s passed away last week, Netflix honored his life by adding a cool Easter egg to the navigation system. Type 'Excelsior” in the search bar and the service will automatically filter all Marvel content.
Disney already has a few Marvel shows lined up for the streaming service. The company announced a solo series for both Loki and Scarlet Witch, the latter of which will also feature Vision. There's also a series featuring Falcon and Winter Solider in the works.
It doesn't look like Marvel's Agents of SHIELD will move from ABC to the Disney+, as the series was just renewed for a Season 7. Marvel also cancelled Luke Cage and Iron Fist, two of their five original shows on Netflix. It's still unclear what Marvel plans to do with its original Netflix universe in 2019.
